Pumeco, many of the dangerous jobs really don't pay as well as you might expect. You start out low man on the totem and have to deal with an almost overwhelming level of testing and bullshit, many times while the veterans stand around and watch. Fairness isn't in the equation with these people. Also, being that many times this is mercenary type of labor to start, there's no medical. You begin to really question whether all of the daily minor injuries (which begin to add up to serious injuries) are worth the wee bit of extra income. Getting by on luck just to stay out of harms way isn't a sensible way to go through life in my opinion.
