I did a Supergirl outfit for V4 years ago and tried to offer it as a freebie here, but they wouldn't host it because of copyright issues with the name / symbol etc.

Warner Bros., which is owned by AOL Time Warner will sue you to hell and back if you so much as LOOK at one of it's properties wrong.  The only company that's more aggressive is Disney. They usually don't bother with fan fiction and images though, as long as it's not pornographic or commercial in nature.  Disney, as I said, though is more aggressive. They have lawyers whose sole job is to sue people or serve cease and desist orders.
