Oh, and the cartoon Superman is a pic I got from Pinterest. I have an account there so I can find comic book related stuff easily. I am not 100% sure where the image originated, or what time period it is from, but the overall design does suggest the future.

The biggest change I see in the MOS suit over the rest is the Kryptonian influence. His original suit was made by Martha Kent in the comics at one point. I am not sure it was even discussed in the early stages of the comic. The first design was modeled after circus strongman costumes, which are closely related to Olympic wrestling uniforms of that time period.

I think I will give the emblem one more shot and see what happens. The biggest problem I have is that I modeled the first emblem by doing a shell extrusion off his suit, so I was stuck with that geometry. Tyler's torso is long, so that is why it got that wonky shape. Any attempt I have made at modeling a separate emblem, while they are 100% accurate with the movie design, don't fit the costume. I am formulating a plan that involves using Blender's Shrinkwrap utility and see what I can do from there with a single sided prop.
