Ok, here is my first more or less serious Vue Render. I plan to add a couple of figures that spent the night in the cave and now prepare to go further up the river. But there are a couple of details I need some help on: 1: The edges of the cave are way to regular (two boolean terrains) I tried to erode the inner terrain that forms the cave, but it makes it softer and more regular instead of rougher 2. The material on the canyonwalls doesn't really satisfy me. I like the plants, but the rock looks just too.... artificial (too Bryce-like;) 3. Any ideas on how to improve it further? I interupted the renderprocess, so the bottom part of the pic is a bit ... rough Thanks for any help Phil

What a great scene you're working with, I especially like that sky. :) 1 - Try using a rock object for the cave itself, booleaned in the same way as the terrain object you used. The rock shape might be more what you're looking for and be less regular; it can also be edited to be even more "rocky" as desired. 2 - Experiment with the material settings. You can add Turbulence with just a click that will make an "instant" difference in the appearance. You can also add or remove functions and filters from the Bump or Color tabs. You could replace the stone material with an image map. Or you could Mix an image map and the stone material together for an entirely different look. What to do really depends on where you want to go with it.

For the rock texture, try the 'chipped rock' texture in the 'rocks' materials. It has a good scale and gives a great effect on large walls. For the cave, you could simulate a cave by using a terrain upside down. You would just have to sculpt the arch in the terrain editor and flip it over on your scene.
