When you start an animation, set down keyframes at even intervals with the add keyframe button ( the + on the animation palette). For example, @ 30 fps set keys at 7 or 8,15, 22 or 23, and 30. (24fps set them at 6,12,18,24) Create the first pose on 1, then the next on 6. Hit the add keyframe button. make the next pose on 12, hit the add keyframe button. and so on... When you hit the add keyframe button, it sets a keyframe for EVERY variable, so that you don't get arms going all over the place and such...
