@Rods The image size file weight is now handled when uploaded by our image handler. I don't think there is an exact file weight for the gallery, as long as the width and height is restricted the weight can only be so large. We just ask that you don't take advantage of this by purposely uploading extremely hefty files because then we will be forced to restrict the quality of our compression.

Keep in mind a human can only see so many pixels. So after a certain point the quality can be compressed without any downfall. This is called Lossy Compression, which is what we use along with most sites. But as long as your images are already a decent weight you should not lose any quality.
