Interesting. I wouldn't expect a true transparent object to produce specular light bounce.
It doesn't actually emit light. That effect was done with a point light right at the same place where the transparent cylinder is placed.
I've got a two-horse carriage with removable lanterns; the lanterns have a modeled flame (not a flat transmapped billboard). It also has Firefly IDL emitters so that it will cast light if rendered in P9+ with IDL engaged. The illumination output can be adjusted. There is a black iron ring at top for a handle My Poser is busy running test renders at the moment, but I can pack the lantern up later.
Poser 12, in feet.
OSes: Win7Prox64, Win7Ultx64
Silo Pro 2.5.6 64bit, Vue Infinite 2014.7, Genetica 4.0 Studio, UV Mapper Pro, UV Layout Pro, PhotoImpact X3, GIF Animator 5
Square lantern . Copyright seachnasaigh 2014. This model free for both personal and commercial renders; do not redistribute. Those holding a valid Poser Pro 2014 Game Dev license may export this model as a game asset consistent with the SmithMicro GameDev eula.
If you are using P5-P8/Pro2010, hide or delete the "emitter" props, and substitute a Poser point light. The glow aura will still work. In P9+, render with IDL engaged and the lantern will cast light; to adjust intensity, change the ambient_value of the emitter props in the advanced material room.

Very cool! I have to give that a try.

I stumbled on a way to make a candle flame in poser. Create a transparent cylinder and put a colored spotlight on it. That makes a specular reflection on the invisible cylinder, and if you put it in the right place it looks like a candle flame. At least it looks like a candle flame when you give it the toon treatment.
