That should work. Depending on the version of the RDS OBJ file you may have to edit it a bit to make poser read it, as a line or two at the start may have to be commented out. The most serious problem that editing the obj in almost any 3d modeler causes is the loss of the materials. It either ignores them or turns them into some sort of random group.
