To be accurate, wouldn't the planets have to be truly tiny (as in almost invisible) -- or the entire contraption truly enormous? ;)
Yes. The only thing I can do -and the only thing needed- would be to ERC the planets so that they orbit (and spin) at the correct relative speeds. But a tabletop model with a little hand crank would be feasible.
