The recent Generations of DAZ dolls are not compatible with Poser. Aiko3, Michael3, Victoria3 would work, and M4/V4 are the last DAZ dolls to work fully in Poser. Dawn and Dusk will work in Poser. There some indie figures such as Anastasia, Antonia Polygon, My Michelle, etc. Also some improved versions like V4 weight mapped.

As for training, my first thought would be for you to post a description of what you'd like to accomplish. If you don't know where to start, then I'd suggest learn the material room, learn to use the dynamic cloth room, and learn to use the IDL-capable render engine(s).

There is a service release update for P9/Pro2012 which is 3.1 or 3.2; get that - it fixes several bugs and adds some important features.
