Nah, I think he's talking about just regular hair models and the red selection outline that occurs when you click on something. Can't get rid of that or even change color AFAIK.

Wait... in 2014 and later, the object stays highlighted, even though you aren't mouse-hovering on it? o.O

One thing you can do is choose to remove one of those features, that big figure/object selection/posing "Circle" thingie. IIRC, it's in the poser "General Preferences" area. That thing can get annoying and, who knows, maybe it will remove this feature in 2014+?
