That's an easy one. A graphic artist can only show you his world. I can take you to mine, and let you experience it, feel it, and know the people that populate my world. You will know my character's hopes, dreams, fears, and triumphs. A painting, sculpture, or graphic image will only hold your interest for a very short time before you move on. I will hold your attention for days, weeks, months, even years. Perchance even a lifetime.

Through the written arts I have stood on the walls of Troy as the enemy crashed against the gates, and chased a mighty whale across the sea. I have fought pirates on an island with hidden treasure, and floated down a lazy river on a wooden raft. From the decks of a pirate galley to the bridge of a star cruiser, I have explored the universe.

There is no deeper, richer, more fulfilling form of art than that of a well told story. Since the dawn of humankind we have gathered around our storytellers to be taken on wondrous adventures.

"What is the end of Fame? 'tis but to fill A certain portion of uncertain paper: Some liken it to climbing up a hill, Whose summit, like all hills, is lost in vapour: For this men write, speak, preach, and heroes kill, And bards burn what they call their "midnight taper," To have, when the original is dust, A name, a wretched picture, and worse bust."

Lord Byron

And this is why I write.
