I also go way back with Poser, and used it fairly regularly thru about version 7, then less with version 9. I recently upgraded to Poser Pro 2014 due to a good price offer from Smith Micro, some Poser models I have that don't work in Carrara, and a nice comic render (way better than the old Poser sketch render). So I am relearning it (slowly) with help from Mark Bremmer's nice tutorials. As you may have inferred, I prefer Carrara, which handles most Poser format content seamlessly (I have a collection of several thousand Poser format items), loading it directly from the Carrara browser (no "import"). I do short animations, and find that Carrara is much more capable of handling large scenes with many lights, etc. But still, the first thing I add to Carrara's browser when I put it on a new machine is the Poser 7 Runtime.
