You need to install the importer to the Poser program folder (it's a python script/add-in, so it lives there) and the Genesis 1,2 & 3 starter essentials to a runtime folder in the Poser Library; I have separate ones for each generation, but whatever suits you.

While I install my Content with DAZ Install Manager, I manually install the Importer; there is an .exe download in your account's Product Library. You will need to run the installer as an Administrator, if your account isn't an Administrator account..

The separate runtime location started with Poser 8, due to UAC being introduced in Windows Vista. As Latexluv noted, for older Poser versions one can install it outside of the C:/Program Files hierarchy ..
