"Or better yet, how to break them up into a pair of Cr2 figure files that would conform perfectly to V4?"
Quite a loaded statement right there. Create a perfectly functioning conformer for v4's 0 foot joint positions out of a model not purpose built for that. Rigging shoes that work well with v4's feet can be a task. Do you have a modeler? Do you know how to use the grouping tool? Have you ever changed an objects center/origin with the joint editor? Familiar at all with the set up room or transferring a donor rig to a grouped mesh? All of these questions are something you might want to consider before embarking on this path. Even if the answer is a confident "yes" to these questions, you're likely to run into many snags along the way. Can't really recommend any tutorials unless you are somewhat familiar with the concepts above. I would start with familiarizing yourself with the grouping tool. If you don't use an external modeler you'll need it to break the .obj into 2 objects, regardless of the .cr2 or parented props choice.
What about just breaking the Obj file into two separate shoes? I'd settle for that too. I've been reading up on the PHI builder from Roy Riggs.. So I imagine that if I can at least get them broken into two separate shoes (left, right) I could at least parent them to her feet and I'd be more than half way towards my goal, perhaps even stopping right there.
