If you are still have Max installed, please try Corona Renderer A6 which is free renderer and I rate this renderer very highly, yes their commercial Corona 1.4 is better, but is not free
https://corona-renderer.com/blog/corona-alpha6-is-out/
And if you have this installed then I would suggest this
http://www.racoon-artworks.de/CoronaConverter/CoronaConverter.html
Its converter of materials,I use this to convert V-RAY materials to Corona mats
Hope this helps
downloaded, thanks!
Hi Ero
I use mostly Corona Renderer for my renders if I do renders in 3DS MAX,you can check NOX Renderer which is free too or FurryBallRT which is GPU renderer,or if you have AMD GPU or GPU which offers good OpenCL performance then have look on AMD FireRender which is free plus there are few others render engines which are free and offers good performance and have great features like is FStormRender which is currently free
But Mental ray which is supplied with 3DS MAX is good too, sometimes I use this renderer as he offers good SSS and some good effects, but mostly come down to what I want to achieve
Regarding the materials and challenge with this, this shouldn't be problem if you have two monitor setup, you can drag and drop to the scene any material or you can drag and drop to the material editor slot etc When you start to use 3DS MAX more and more, this will be so much faster
My scenes are pretty much very high poly and have sometimes 45 people with applied all sort of modifiers like smoothing/turbosmooth and subdivision/subdivide and previously I've run 32GB RAM which hasn't been enough at all, right now I'm on 96GB RAM and hopefully I will be OK for time being
Hope this helps
Thanks,Jura
