DS has the ability to create Geometry shells for any object, its a shell and therefore takes up a lot less memory; they are being used quite a lot now for several purposes, the new bodysuit at Daz uses them. They are easy enough to create with an object selected just go to create and select Create New Geometry Shell, you get a choice of how you want the geometry shell to attach, the shell has the same uv and mat zones as the original, pretty useful things. I don't know Poser well enough to know if it has anything equivalent.
With to days PC's n Genesis lower polycount it's more doable. But V4's high polycount n her body suit high poly count on the stone age PC's where ruff.
Geometry shells sounds like copy paste mesh we've been able to do this in any main app for decades but more meshes still use more memory n resources.
