DIM works regardless whether or not DAZStudio is installed. Under settings, you need to add the newly created external runtime and have the app directly point to that runtime. DIM will automatically install all the necessary files from within the content folder of the DAZ zip. Just be aware, DIM will only work with DAZ-centric zip files.
