@wtimmins, @killy1999 : I just want to be sure. Do you click directly on the Dynamics parameters? The "Dynamics parameters" tab have to be opened using the import cloth or import hair buttons. You select the parameters you want and then, you press on the "Apply parameters and generate" button.

I followed the steps in the PDF file : first imported collision, then hair, then glue to vertices and then simulation.

In the end I read the advice NolosQuinn in the errors thread and deleted all VWD files, then copied again and started over : now it seems to work fine, even if I don't know why. Perhaps some weird setting in the previous configuration.
