tuxedomask, I've had that happen to me in Photoshop before, but usually when I close it and open it back up it starts back working again. Are you using a Mac or a PC, and are you using a Wacom tablet? Have you installed any Photoshop plugins lately? Plugins can make Photoshop go haywire. I had a plugin that would make Photoshop close every time I started it. I read something that said that maybe the mouse or any other input devices you're using in Photoshop could be causing Photoshop to do that and to try to move them to different USB ports and see if that corrects the problem.
