Took longer to render than they did to make. They are both UV Mapped. The Mortar has 3 zones, Inner, Outer and Base, in case you want an unglazed look for the base. The Pestle has 2 zones, Main and Grip. I just used one material on every zone here. They are objs, not scaled and with no materials. I suggest scaling to 1% for Poser use.

I'm going to bed now it's 1.30 am. If you want them, sitemail me and I'll zip them and zip them. May put 'em up in Freestuff at a later date.

Nice Work

Thanks, gang. It's nice to be able to contribute to this community.

Shante, as per your request, I've made the mortar deeper. Please forward your email and I'll have them over to you in short order. I'll send both versions of the mortar, just in case you decide you need a shallower version at some point.

What a nifty idea! As soon as my computer comes back, I'll be able to start again. I'll even make some textures for them and put it up in free section. My way of saying thanks to all free stuffs makers and the community.

Could you make this available in freestuff somewhere? (not necessarily here).

Well I'm not a content provider, just a tinker... I do use reality for poser and shudder DAZ. Am sharecg as a user not a vendor or whatever they call them over there. I am getting rid of my site... Retired from that stuff. Where would you like me to place it???

Just haven't done much these days.

That is amazing, and it looks great. I don't know how you did it, but it is very cool.

SamTherapy ( ) posted Sat, 24 September 2016 at 7:07 AM

Boni, I'll upload the M & P next week, along with some other things I made recently. Bat gadgets will be a bit later on since there's a bit more involved in the process. Daleks are taking a back seat of late but I will - honest - complete the tutorial I promised aeons ago.

My internet connection is very unreliable at the moment; an engineer is coming to kick things next week.

@ Putrdude: Thank you! Honestly, dead easy to do. About 10 minutes work in Wings. I cut a sphere in half, Inset the flat bit to give a "lip", then Intruded the remainder to give the bowl inner. Next, I deleted some verts from inside the top edge to give some thickness. Scaled radial Y to make the inner a decent overall distance from the outer. Extrude negative Y then flatten for the base. Tidied that up by adding a few bevels here and there, since nothing in RL had a mathematically perfect corner.

The pestle was just a cylinder with a bit of taper here and there, plus a section from a sphere to give a bit of roundness to the top of the handle.

I guarantee you could make something like it after a couple of hours getting used to Wings. After all, I made my first Dalek after using Wings for a week; it's that easy to learn.

Sheesh! I had never even heard of Wings except as a feminine hygiene product. ;) I'll have to take a look at that. I'm often torn between the time it takes to make an image in poser and the time to write the chapter for the book I'm working on. Usually both win. Poser helps me build the scene, then I can finish the chapter.

I only made 1 thing in poser and I cheated all over the place. I needed a kneeler for casket scene for my dead grandma chapter. I used the park bench, that I think comes with poser, inverted it, hid parts of it, added a rounded primitive for the cushy kneeler, changed the texture and voila, it worked ok.

I'm probably a better writer (I hope) than an image maker and certainly model maker. Trying to find the time for everything I'll need a clone or two. Life is too short. I hope I hate Wings. :)
