Subject: Putting a sound player on my upload

CoyoteSeven ( ) posted Mon, 26 September 2016 at 7:19 PM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 12:54 AM

I hope this is the right place to ask this... well, here goes any way.

I'm wanting to put access to a sound file I have on my Google drive onto some of my future render uploads (think it might add a little oomph to the render), but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how.

I want a default (cross platform) bar type controller showing with the choice to listen to the file if you like or not (autostart sounds can be so annoying).

Can anybody help me with the code? I used to be pretty good with HTML (20ish years ago) but now my coding skills are just a hair above dismal.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Larry

I used to do this for my stories; providing a audio file for those that my have diminished eyesight so they can read my stories in Writers Gallery. I'll probably start doing it again now that I'm finished building my sound booth. I'm assuming that is what you intend also. Audacity is a great free program to record your own stories, music, etc. I've used it before, but have switched to Adobe Audition. Pro Tools also offers a free version of theirs that is pretty good. Save the file as an mp3 file and load it up in your file locker; located under the drop down menu under your profile icon in the top right corner. Once the file is loaded, copy the provided link the file locker gives you (make sure you set it to public), then paste it in the description block of your post. And don't worry, it won't auto start. You have to click the link to get the sound file.No html knowledge needed. Just load, copy, paste, and post.

That simple?

And here I was thinking I was going have to use Kompozer/type til I bleed.

Thanks Robert!

Edit: Seems I can't use file locker for some reason, can I use the public share link Google Drive gives me for the same result(s)?

Everyone has a file locker. It's too late today, but I'll send a note to Kristi to have someone get up with you to try and solve the issue. And I would assume Google Drive would work, but I've not tried it, so don't know. We'll get your file locker sorted out.

Edit: Help request sent. Check your site mail, you got a cc copy.

Appreciate it Robert, It'll be awhile before I need it, so no big rush. Meanwhile, I have the next day off and am working on another installment of 'Cailin's Journey'. Hope to have it edited and ready by evening.

Thanks again!

Using archive.org, you can upload your audio files and them get a code to embed an audioplayer with that music. I don't know if you can use html (js) code in the gallery description, but...
