I've been asked to come up with some ideas that might help build the writers area here on Rendo. So, I've brought an idea up to staff about Short Story submissions for the Rendo Magazine. I'm thinking maybe the last page, maybe a monthly section. The Short Story would have to be... a short story, not a continuation story already in the Writers Gallery. It would have to meet all the highest editing, punctuation, and formatting standards, and be accepted by the magazine staff. The story would have to be interesting. That's key. I remember a day, and to some extent still, when short stories carried a magazine. People would pick up the magazine just to read a fav writer. So, right now this is just an idea. It would be open for submission from the entire community. There would be some benefit, of course. You would reach a much larger audience than just being in the Writers Gallery, and you might pick up a few followers. But, first I would like to hear from the writers if there might be some interest in this before I write up a formal proposal on how it would work and 'officially' present it to the staff, but, if the interest is there, I think this could elevate the writers section.

I like this idea but how long would a short story be? I've seen it defined as anything from a few thousand words to close to 50,000.

Also, where's the link to the Magazine? I see the one at the bottom of the screen down near the social media links, but is there any other, more obvious, way to get to it? (Obvious to anyone except me who's a little oblivious right now)

The only link I know of is at the bottom of the page. I'll check on it. You've also brought up some good questions, and I will hammer out the fine details, such as story length and formatting and such. I think there is enough interest shown to move forward with the project. I'll keep you updated, and probably make the finally announcement in Community Center.
