Well, as with Poser content should not go in the application folder - especially under Windows. Other than that, as long as you have access rights to the folder the location should be fine. Security software does matter - at least until recently ZoneAlarm was a problem for PostgreSQL (or vice versa) for example.

Where is the content now, and what are your content directories - Edit>Preferences>Content tab>Content Directory Manager?
