Recent information suggests that Apple is planning on improvements to their desktops. Maybe just rumour. But too soon to write Apple off like this.
Oh, yeah, Tim's "magical pipeline" - watchbands and emojis. A "pro" laptop that maxes out at 16Gb - in 2017. A "pro" workstation that is nothing more than a dongle for Final Cut X. 2 of the 3 CPUs for the iCan have been EoL'd. Not to mention the GPU repair program.
It isn't too soon to start planning for a platform jump. Look at everything they have done since P.T. Barnum died. Make it thinner, make it less capable, make it non-user serviceable. And that doesn't even address Sir Idiot boy's mailing it in design wise, since Tim took over.
Since Tim took over, he has been steadily removing parts of the ecosystem (Monitors, Airports), nevermind the philosophy of It just works. All of Apple's eggs are in the phone basket. Remind me how well that worked out for Crackberry and Nokia. 1 iPhone failure and there simply isn't any division large enough to save the company (unlike the last time Apple went through a near-death experience).
They are looking at ARM, which will be the end of the Apple desktop. Software houses aren't going to rewrite their software again to cover Apple's market share - Remember how long it took to go from PowerPC to Intel native? I doubt Apple still has the software chops to write another version of Rosetta - the engineering teams have been whacked - take a look at who all has left (not just the folks that jumped to Telsa).
In Tim's world, an Apple power user is someone that has facebook AND twitter open at the same time.
That isn't a world that Poser will run in.
