Any Artist that's any good can't be replace by another's medium. If they loss there job n income then they need to be a better Artist.

The best Artist will fine the best medium available to them in that time period. Why I converted my real world studio to 100% CGI.I know CGI is better.

Its the same with computers, physical units were replaced with virtual and now virtual are being replaced by cloud, any attempt to invest time learning a new technology as a means of making a career is wasted, better to learn how to search on Google. I think the best way to lessen the constant worry of being superseded is to develop core skills that are not dependent on technology for example composition, anatomy and colour theory as these can be applied to any medium. The technology then becomes a tool rather than an emotional attachment, that's the theory anyway (he says just after re-arranging his Carrara installation DVD set in historical order).

Tech , Programmers n CGI never stop learning .it's life long school n learning .allegorithmic n sidefx just released new stuff. I can't keep up LOL ;)

I think it's more a matter of how you improve a technology, not just replace it. I consider CGI to be an enhancement of 2D art, not a replacement for it. It adds that third dimensional layer to what you're already doing. 2D art still holds a fascination for me and I still enjoy it just as much as before.
