Writers F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 6:28 am)
Hi, not sure where you want to post, so I'll list them all.
In the Writers Forum there is a 25k character limit, cut and paste from your favorite editor (word or whatever). PDF does not work, but you can put a pdf in the file locker and provide a link; I used to do that all the time so the readers get the formatting I intended.
In any other forum, there is a 5k character limit (though I haven't tested it lately, anything can change, but I imagine it's still the same)
In the Writers Gallery, there is a 50k character limit, cut and paste from your favorite editor, though you might have to clean up the post a bit, the formatting never copies perfectly. The illustration is same dimensions as any other Gallery.
In any other Gallery there is a 5k character limit, same image dimensions as all other Galleries.
For Contest posting: You need a description, a thumb 300x350, a main image 1200x1200 (max), And the story max is a 50 mb file, a word file (doc) works fine. You'll find the contest entry module under 'Community' 'Contests'. When you click on 'submit entry' it will show you the requirements.

It's the requirement for adding an image that puts me off submitting to Renderosity contests. I'm a writer, not an artist. Writing is difficult enough without adding images. If a "picture paints a thousand words," I'd give up writing in an instant to become an artist, if I could.
As a writer, I control the lives of millions. Whole worlds can be destroyed by typing the correct sequence of letters on my keyboard.

That is a good point. Prior to the site update an image was not required in the Writers Gallery. I've submitted the suggestion to remove the image requirement several times, and I'll make sure to bring it up to staff again. But, the fix to that is very easy. Just put up a 600x600 title page with your byline. As a writer you have to submit a title page with a manuscript anyway, so it's not really going out of your way. And, you don't even have to bother with a thumb as it is auto generated. I can even go you one extra; I'll make a couple generic title pages, and thumbs, and post them in a sticky for anyone to use. I'll have them posted in a few days. There is always a solution to every problem.
