Every thing is going good and then the screen goes blank .reads no signal but you can still here Pandora playing. Will work right for days and not go blank .I was playing war craft frozen thrown n happen twice in a hour. was not playing other players at blizzard just me vs the game.

seems like if I hang out to long at sketchfab will make it go blank ,seems like it's a guess.

if I just restart don't work so half to go to F12 n it boots.then you see the windows circle looks like it upgrading for a few minutes .I have windows 8.

I'm thinking it's a bad 3D card or monitor or software something ? What do you think it is ?

Probably anover-heating card- could be physical dust on the card.

Could be a thermal issue like overheating or loose connector, this can become an issue in the summer when the ambient temperature increases. Other issues could be loose cable, power problem/spikes or memory leak in the driver.

So I take it you all think the monitors good.cables are tight. the PC runs 12 to 16 hours every day .this PC has lasted longer then any before it. the game makes it go blank .So games will make the 3D card run hotter ? how to check 3D card tempt ,power problem/spikes or memory leak in the driver.?

I had a similar problem and for me it turned out being the monitor cable needed replaced. Just a suggestion.

Take a look at your TDR (GPU hang recovery time). If it is too low (win default is 2 sec) then the GPU can be interrupted by long computations throwing a blue screen. This is more common from Win7 onwards as a display issue. The time can be set to whatever you want in settings. Poser users with GPUs are running into this more and more as the shaders get more complex. I am guessing your display may be getting overwhelmed while gaming if your cables are tight, dust isn't causing overheating, and you have a big enough power supply to power the card.

I went to open NVIDIA Esperance and said something about a runtime and now I can't find it on my PC. it just disappeared think it uninstalled.

There's a lot of settings I don't see a TDR I do see a manage 3D settings / global settings .a lot of settings ,but it's a bad idea for me to ever mess with anything like this. cause I have no idea what I'm doing.

War craft ran on this PC for years just fine it never TDR before. Maybe the TDR got changed.Where is the TDR at ?

All good suggestions. Do you know if the problem occurred before or after upgrading to your current version of Nvidia drivers? I tend to think one thing that helps is to unplug the pc, open it up, and use a can of compressed air to blow out any dust, being careful on the fans (also be extremely wary of static electricity). Another thing to check is if your AV software (or even firewall software) affected your Nvidia update. I've seen certain firewall manufacturer software quarantine or run the updated software in a sandbox (if your software has this ability). If that's the case you'll see notes in the quarantine files. You'll want to look at the path of the files affected (example would be any on the drive letter, program files, Nvidia name of file). You might also want to check your Windows Event Viewer logs too. Look under Event Viewer, Windows Logs, Application, and under Event Viewer, Windows Logs, System. You should see Errors for when the monitor went out listed there. You could test things by reinstalling the older Nvidia driver version and see if you still get the error..

I would start with as above Event Viewer(Control Panel->Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer-> Windows logs ) and check drivers as well,not sure which drivers drivers are you using but I usually don't update drivers every time they're put something new to them,last time I did updated drivers and went through the hell as every time I tried to render,rendering stopped

Check temperatures if they're OK,download HWiNFO or SIV64 or any good monitoring utility like is GPU-Z but in yours case I would check if CPU is not overheating etc

Thanks for all the info ,I have a lot of work to do n I can't survive with out the PC so as long as I stay away from games seems to be doing ok. I'll try all the things you all said soon as possible. you all are very helpful thanks a lot.

cigarette ashes drop down below the keys on the key board so I always have compressed air n keep the PC clean as possible. Anything to keep this PC running gets old having to buying a new PC ever 3 years n reloading everything .this ones lasted way longer. this is my 5th PC since 98.

I've been getting new driver updates.

Regarding Geforce Experience, it started giving me problems a couple of versions a go. I also have older cards (a 550ti and 750ti). Now I get only the drivers from the nvidia site and don't bother with the whole Geforce Experience package.

it got kinda of aggravating upgrading so much but since it disappeared off my PC I can't get it to load back on anyways. http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4223 .I've stayed away from games n ever things working . I've banged around all the great helpful suggestion but still not sure about a few things. I could work on my own 60's cars ,todays cars not so much. Probably best if I take the PC to a mechanic .
