There are many courses out there, and a lot of great online courses in Animation/VFX. (I am in the L.A. area, so can't vouch for the above. My accreditations are in editing and motion graphics, and many local and online courses.)

If you'd prefer online courses, there are a lot available. Just do a google search for "animation and VFX". Some are accredited courses.

This industry is a varied field. Animators can specialize in modeling, texturing, animation, etc. VFX artist can be compositors, Digital FX, or Motion Graphics. Check out the many free tutorials available online as well.
