Never used it but http://pixologic.com/sculptris/ is always free .I think .it's like a zBrush lite with triangles.Blenders has sculpting.I really like MudBox ,Very affordable.

Caligari Truespace sold TS to Microsoft. Microsoft never done anything with TS but it Looks like Microsoft used parts of TS in different things.
