I've been a long time customer and supporter of this website's artists and their work.

However, I've decided to try my hand in modeling -- just some rudimentary stuff in ZBrush. Some characters I really like are not really supported anymore (Aiko-3 for one), so I wanted to learn to make my clothes for them. I've watched a number of videos and have learned how to create a piece of clothing, and create my .obj -- get my cr2 created, etc. Problem is, when I get it over to poser, I don't have any textures. In fact, I can't apply any textures to any group and I only see "preview" in the materials tab. There isn't any grouping.

Obviously, I've missed something in my workflow.

I'm using Autogroup Editor and QuickConform to group and rig the object. But somewhere along the way, I'm losing the texture information. I'm pretty sure it's something I'm not doing in ZBrush.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I don't know your workflow but it looks like you didn't UV-map your items.

That's logical, of course. But I had thought I'd mapped them in ZBrush. I'd exported the UV maps, I know that. But maybe there's something going on with the application of the map and the .obj export in ZBrush. It's driving me crazy. Hehe.

I'm not sure if the free UVMapper is still available, but it's a great little tool if so. That way you can easily check IF there's a UV map on the obj or not.

I've had sort of the same problem from time to time, exporting from Hexagon, which is my modeler of choice. I UV map it in Hexagon, and most of the time, the UV map carries over (anthough usually pretty mangled - but at least I have my material zones ...) - you can also check with Poser's Grouping Tool - perhaps your material zones ha been turned into groups? That way you can grab them and assign a material zone to them.

Poser's Grouping Tool is GREAT. Takes a little getting used to, but once you've got it, it can do a lot :)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

I think you're onto something. I think there's a problem with my workflow. I've been grouping them and then conforming them, outside of Poser. But, perhaps I need to import the original obj into Poser -- using the grouping tool -- then export again? Then Quick Conform and then back into Poser? I'm using Autogroup Editor and Quick Conform to get my pieces into poser.

But I'm think, as you've identified, that there is something off with my workflow. Perhaps I'm missing a step here...
