Hi All,
This thread is potentially a godsend for me being an utter newbie and feeling overwhelmed by the help that is available in forums, youtube and about a million other places on the web! There's nothing like asking some experts though - once I learn something I figure I'll know it forever :)
So...
I'm planning to use Poser to make some wrestling stories for Deviant Art collections. So far, I've bought and installed Poser 11, purchased DAZ Victoria 4.2 Pro (with the ++ morphs) and also have a lot of experience working in 2D with Photoshop.
Usingh the basic tutorials and a bit of common sense, I have started designing some characters in Poser (facial details, body shape etc.)
I'm now at the stage where I want to dress my characters with hair and simple fighting costumes and this is where I'm getting stuck...
I have a basic hair model from Renderosity and have learned how to scale it and attach it to a character's head. Clothing is tricky though...
Any V4 clothes that I try to attach rarely fit the character that I've made - arm and torso muscle that is morphed from the basic V4 poke through the clothing (even if I put the clothing on and morph the muscle later, it will break through the cloth). Similarly, when I pose the figure, the clothing doesn't move with it.
I realise that you're probably laughing now as I'm making a schoolboy error and have no understanding of how this thing works. Even if someone could point me to the right tutorial I'd appreciate it.
I also considered that I could just 'paint' the costumes on my characters - they are wrestlers after all so the clothing will be quite a snuig fit, however, this seems like a compromise as I also want to work with gloves, belts, boots and other props that can't simply be painted onto flesh.
I have a million other questions I need to answer before I get going with my fights (I've story-boarded hundreds of scenes and shots already) but the more I can figure out for myself - with the odd helpful push from you guys - is the best way to go I think.
Any helpers?
Thanks :)
If I'm not mistaken, maybe you forgot to 'conform' the clothes to the figure. Unless the clothes are 'dynamic clothes', you would require 'conforming' it, which is just at the right-click option of the clothing figure. Once conformed also you might have some poke through depending on the body shape of the figure. But for most of the recent V4 'conforming' clothes standard and various body morphs are available, so that you can tweak fit them easily. Once you get the hang of all this clothing should be easy. Dynamic clothes are a different case, but it tends to be more realistic than conforming clothing, but it requires a pose simulation-animation to fit. There are very good tutorials on youtube if you wanna learn dynamic clothing. Hope this helped. Since you never mentioned the 'conforming' part of clothing, I figured it maybe the cause of your issue there. Cheers
