I had a similar problem a number of years ago. I updated my version of Vue and Skinvue did not work anymore and the author did not reply to my posts on Cornucopia. I then decided to see if I could correct it myself. Using a python decompiler I discovered that Skinvue.py contained absolute paths to the Vue program. I then manually changed the paths to relative paths and it then worked with the new version of Vue. I do not know what your problem is but you could try doing what I did
