Yes, Carrara is hardly dead, I use it on a daily basis. My interest is using Carrara to make short animations, mostly for contests (48 Hour Film Houston - Regular and Horror each year, Renderosity Halloween and Christmas each year, etc.). I'm usually working toward the next contest, e.g. right now the Renderosity Holiday contest. So not much time for weekly projects. But here are a few Carrara animations that did well in a contest and/or get more than average views at YouTube:
