I was trying a mermaid, Pearl, with Koz hair, so yes, hair was the main problem. She also has lots of jewerly props. The problem with taking them to Bryce is Bryce doesn't identify the meshes, so I have to bring everything over one piece at a time using a tall cylinder for heigh reference. Once everything is over then I have to recombine and group everything, after I apply the textures to the individual parts. The trans mapped hair is were I finally gave up. It also doesn't help the the model looks like crap in bryce light. I'm just doing to many things wrong and don't know what to adjust to make it right. :( For example if I had a step by step (I mean a real step by step) of how the woman with the hawk was made I'd be set. So far I have a mermaid with no hair or jewerly and she looks nasty.
