You could use a d-form to pull the two shoulder straps out using x-scale...that could help.

I am actually going in the opposite direction, so I won't be of too much help. I found my renders getting more sexy, and I am once again dialing them back to "cute and fun". It's a slippery slope that I find myself fighting often!
