Also, for simple things like a lamp, you can get away with simply upping the Ambient on the bulb material. Like I did here:

It doesn't actually give off much light (if you need that, put a point light where the bulb is) but it makes it look good ;)

Yeah! Low tech dear! Love it.... what I have been doing to get around my brain damage interfering with learning the "Right" way of doing things. But it is so damn much more work step-n-fetching it all the time I was hoping for something more...efficient! But thanks. If I can't i the end wrap my head around all the other great suggestions above I will go back to your idea or my own old one!
