My suggestions are that is needs more to loose stuff than anything new right now. The image is way too busy, to many conflicting textures and clashing colors. First make the floor a solid color try a gray or other cool color. You can apply a subtle bump to make it look like carpet. Next make the left wall match the color of the floor, a slightly lighter shade than the floor. Remove the texture from this wall. Try a smooth glossy surface for the lamp stands. I would move the staircase more toward the left rear corner, rather than leaving it in the middle of the room. The texture and color on the stairs is well, I don't know but you may wish to experiment with it a bit. Once you solve the texture overload. You will need an object as a center of focus for the scene. This could be a window, statue, work of art, something for the viewer to focus on. I am gathering that this is not a midevil setting as the lamps are rather contemporary.
