Sure there's no reason to rush.
I've watched a video last week from the Blender Developper channel. The guy said that 2.8 was just the beginning but there are many more fancy stuff coming in the long run. For this fall I recall he talked about asset managment and collections. We've got plenty of fun ahead, and also tutorials :)
