We used to use cardboard boxes to sled in the summer. Got Fridge boxes from the freight depot round the corner, open them up, peg them down covering a hillside with the upper ones overlapping the lower, & then sled on grocery bags! (the fish shop had great waxed bags)LOL The cardboard didn't last long enough in the snow in my neighborhood, so we used hubcaps, too!
