Subject: New Update for 11.2

HKHan99 ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2019 at 1:15 PM ยท edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 1:49 PM

I have 11.2 installed, and it informs me there is a new update, but at the download site there is no information about what is in it. Does anyone have this information? How extensive is it? No way to tell from the package since it asks for an uninstall of the previous version. Also, if I uninstall what I have, will the new install recognize my license?

There are lots of updated files being posted, but......and this is a big BUT......these are daily beta test builds and not intended for the casual user audience. They may not be stable.

Please do not upgrade from a beta test build.

When there is a new build ready for all users, there will be an announcement that you can update your file.

Turn off update notifications for now.

You can do that from the Main Menu>Edit>General Preferences and uncheck Check for updates on launch

Bondware/Renderosity will notify users when a stable update has been released.

If you have downloaded from the poser site you should have the latest version Poser 11.2.289. Check your "About Poser" under the help menu.

Thanks, Glitterati and ThunderStone. I'm still a bit confused, between your two messages. I currently have 11.2.279 installed- is that the current stable build? Or is 11.2.289?

The package I downloaded just says "Install Poser 11" on it, so I'm not even sure what version it is.

Oh, and I just followed the link back from the 'new version available' notice. Is there a different place to get only the current stable build?

I will let you know how the official updater (non-beta release) dated 09/26/2019 (on the posersoftware.com download page) goes on one of my Macs (my initial test machine.) It's currently running Poser Pro 11.2.272. I've just run the updater and am about to do a first launch of Poser. Stay tuned. ๐Ÿ˜€

That looks like where I downloaded from also. It does not, however, say what the version number is anywhere. Do we really have to install it to find out? That seems... wrong... There should definitely be version numbers on the install packages and at the download site.

Poser went from 11.2.272 to 11.2.289 after running the 09/26/2019 update package. This is the non-beta, official release version. I did note that there is a beta release test notes/change log now showing behind the serial/license wall (where the additional content/beta versions can be downloaded.) It mentions merging changes into master release on 9/26/2019. I assume that's what the .289 version is.

I need to reset my preferences, since I've never seen the option to save prefs. I'm just letting the installer use the default locations, which may be why.

Will report again on any unusual issues or fixes that I see.

Did you uninstall first, and if so, did you have to manually input license, or is there a stay-behind module to keep the license info?

LeeMoon ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2019 at 2:56 PM ยท edited Mon, 30 September 2019 at 2:57 PM

Just ran the installer (and support files installer afterwards) and accepted the defaults. It picked up my license and made a backup of my preference/settings folder. I've just placed the contents of the backup folder back into the main folder to restore my preferences. Testing more momentarily. ๐Ÿ˜€

11.2.289 is the latest stable build which has been out for a couple of days now. Nothing else available currently.

caisson ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2019 at 2:57 PM

Request for change logs and version numbering has gone in to the dev team.

However, if anyone would like to submit a support ticket requesting this info be made available on the download page, then it may help speed things along :D

The more requests, the more likely it'll be prioritised.

Preferences restored and all looks like my other Mac which is still running 11.2.276.

As hborre mentioned (thanks!), 11.2.289 has been out since the 26th and is the officlal public stable release at this time.

Yep, I'd love to see change logs/version numbers included on the main download page. Version numbers in the installer name and at least an optional download/viewable change log for the installers.

I suspect they'll get there. ๐Ÿ˜€

So at this point nobody but the dev team knows what's different in the releases? What could possibly go wrong?

As far as I know, the only clues to what's changed are touched on in the tester notes found in the additional content area of posersoftware.com.

Either way, it's an interesting look into the timeline of what's been/being tested.

I have been running 289 on my Mac for several days with no problems. I have reported a 32-bit not optimized for my Mac flag that popped the last time I opened the render window.

hborre ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2019 at 4:26 PM

Since there haven't been any changes in additional content, I can only surmise that support is trying to clean up broken paths and redundant files. I'm hoping that they restore Genitlatia to the taskbar menu, older DAZ models (Michael, Michael 2) is dependent on that script to hide or show their willies. Makes it impractical to eliminate that feature with models still relying on it.

raven ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2019 at 5:37 PM ยท edited Mon, 30 September 2019 at 5:39 PM

hborre, structure put a couple of scripts in the freestuff that allow you to toggle genitalia, and also to allow figure height changes too if you need them.

hborre ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2019 at 5:58 PM

I am quite aware of the script, thank you. I managed to do the changes myself but I might pick it up to have it on hand.

Where do I install these scripts? I haven't even used a script, yet.

hborre ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2019 at 6:49 PM

If Structure assembled his zipped runtime correctly, python scripts would reside in the Poser Core runtime on your computer where ever it was installed.

Thank you Structure, it is working fine.
