There should be some 1050ti cards with 4GB out there. That would be a workable minimum for Iray. (I still use a 750ti (with 4GB), which isn't fast but it's a huge step up from CPU on it's own.)

nVidia are keeping Iray to themselves, they will never licence Radeons to run Iray!
