Given the preceding explanations of LibraryPrefs.xml backups and restoration, I will not reiterate that. Having a preserved version of ones preferences is always important, but can get lost in the excitement of a software update.
On the subject of how many is too many runtimes, I can only state that it would be hugely painful to have to manually reattach 100 runtimes, let alone the file I was recently shown containing >4000 runtimes!!!!! Copying LibraryPrefs.xml from its backup location to the current prefs location is certainly the way to go in that case.
