CCleaner is constantly telling me to upgrade, the worst was a trial product that I prolly disposed of a while ago. But it left a nasty little trick. It turned any jpeg I downloaded from the net into a jfif file. Guess which forum doesn't allow jfif files? Not only that, I could tell it to "SAVE AS" a jpeg and it was telling me, No way in hell buddy. We own your graphics.
I ended hacking my registry to get rid of the reference. Now I can post pix again but really? It hacked my registry? Heaven knows what time bomb they left in there.
Malwarebytes also did it...briefly. I think the backlash scared them. My reply when they asked me why I didn't want to upgrade to premium at this time was "You've become just like the others. Trying to trick me into downloading software I didn't want, hijacking my browser and my Dad's browser. You know how that feels. Why in the hell are you doing it too?"
As I said, They switched back within a week. I now have Malwarebytes Premium. I suspect it's saved me from a fate worse than them.
