Virtual World Dynamics F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 05 5:09 pm)
Hello creationz8,
I also will ask you a question. Can you do the simulations using the GPU with your Titan RTX graphic card?
About the "Memory error", this message appears when too much springs have been generated. Did you use the assistants to create your simulations. Can you tell the character and the cloth/hair you are working on?
About the previous recorded animation, it is a difficult problem to resolve. Currently, I prefer to keep the old recorded animation for the collision actor. When a new animation is imported, the program searchs the number of frames and the number of vertices of the character. If both are the sames, the program considers the animation is the same and it plays the animation in the scene viewer. If you want to import the same character with an animation with the same length but different from the previous one, you have to check the box "New animation".
About your simulation issues, I need more informations to help you. Could you give me informations on the scene you want to simulate.
About "fly away" effect, this always appears when the cloth/hair penetrates too much the collision actor. If this is at the start of the simulation, you can uncheck the inertia during a few steps and check it again after. I will explain all these methods in the coming tutorials.
I hope my explanations will help you.
Have a great day.
Gérald

Can you do the simulations using the GPU with your Titan RTX graphic card? Yes I can. Did you use the assistants to create your simulations. Can you tell the character and the cloth/hair you are working on? I am not too familiar with the software as yet so I do not understand this question. Sorry. I did check the 'new animation' box and that worked. Thank you. I attached some pictures showing the steps in order before the simulation. However, this time, I did not get to simulate because of 'insufficient memory'. Please let me know what I am doing wrong.
Looks like it crashed when importing the cloth. Next time try this to drastically reduce memory footprint:
Sometimes you can just set to Base resolution, and that's enough. Vertex neighborhood is nice if the object has a lot of separate parts since it keeps them together (hopefully the kimono doesn't have separate parts or they'll fall down when using extension only), but it's heavy on spring generation.
Hello creationz8,
When you import a cloth or a hair, you can check the "With assistants" box. This option will help you to import correctly your dynamic actor. If the cloth is composed of several parts, you can tied these parts using the rigid vertices.
Please, can you tell me the exact name of the kimono you use, if I have it I can send you good settings for the simulation.
zanth77: thank you for your reply. The importation without assistants is more powerful but more difficult to adjust. Personally, I often start with the assistant and then, I adjust the simulation settings using the "Simulation history". This method allows to have a good first test before to apply the best settings.

@creationz8: I will try to do a tutorial using this kind of outfit. Visibly, you didn't use the assistants, you can try to use the cloth assistant when you import the kimono and apply a rigid stiffening on the vertices of the belt. Please, tell if this solution resolves your issue.
@zanth77: Please, look at your sitemail.

First I am sorry about all the questions. The software is cool but I have some questions about issues with the software: I am using a Titan RTX to run the cloth sims but I get a message (different language) 'not enough memory'. Do I clear the memory every time I run a new sim? How do I clear the memory and scenes from the software? Imported animation does not run sometimes or an previous animation loads instead. Why? Cloth does not simulate and the software hangs. Cloth sometimes "fly away" or disappear. Why?
