The xyz data mapping could be skipped. If vertex ID appears in the set array, it is used and must stay, if not it is redundant. One problem less.

Then you have to export those null vertices (the ones poser set to zero while welding). And exactly those orphanded vertices are the problem. If you don't export them, the vertex index doesn't match with what the polys needs and your modeler will show mikado :)

Or do I missunderstand you?
