Sometimes it's possible to accidentally select the FocusDistanceControl prop and move or rotate it. There's a slightly more reliable way to select it and allow its parameters to be checked and reset. In the Python Shell, type these few lines in:

That will actually select the prop and display its parameters:

The only parameter which should not be zero, is the zTran, which should match the focus distance setting of the current camera. (Posing Camera in my case):
