Poser is in active development. Carrara and Bryce haven't been developed in years upon years and still have an active user base. If you're implying that Poser is being stomped on by DS, that's the most beaten horse in the stable. Unless you have precognition, a crystal ball, or very reliable tea leaves or entrails... speculation is just that. Speculation. If Poser isn't serving your needs as an environment rendering tool, introduce a tool that fills that function in your workflow. It's what 3d artists do. Complaining and prophecies of doom about your car not flying are sort of moot. Get a plane. Drive to the store in your car.
