Firefly and Superfly shaders won't be able to model the high ior and prism effect of diamonds. For Superfly there are some tutorials on the Internet how to fake a diamond with a Cycles shader, I remember BB discussing diamonds in Firefly years ago but the thread doesn't exist anymore.

Well - the search here is a bit ... strange?

I used Google, searching for Bagginsbill and Diamond.

When searching here for old threads use the advanced search, older than 200 days, newer than 10 years, by Username always returns results. Change the older and newer to suit. If you don't enter the newer than # it will tell you no results found... I did searches for old BB threads with keywords displacement, subsurface scatter, reflect, etc without entering newer than # and returned no results. Imagine there not being any results for Bagginsbill and Scatter

I don't know why, but I keep losing my EZ-Skin shader for Dawn.

I used Vince Bagna' shaders this time. Gold for the metal, and Diamond for the jewel. I think he got me on the jewel, but I think my gold's better looking.

You might try different lighting Earl, so it shows up better.

Just fired up the latest Poser a couple of days ago. Mostly to be sure it is up to date. Loaded the included Dawn figure and her strapless dress. Borked Superfly textures. You would think that if you are including your flagship figure in a piece of software that you would be sure to include render engine compatible shaders. I made the Dawn defs years ago when Superfly came into being. I never expected them to still be needed after all this time. V4 I can understand. I also made defs for dozens of figures including some animals. They are scattered around the sites that produced the figures. Feel free to share any of them as required. Earl I think you are among those that asked about a Dawn def way back when. There is also one for Harry the horse and the Hivewire Big Cat and for the folks bringing in models from the dark side; there was also defs for Genesis and Genesis2 when used in Poser. I won't be re-writing them for dozens of figures. Talk and share amongst yourselves.

Yeah...damn it..lol, Anyway your right, I wouldn't stress too much on the diamond thing from far away unless the person (figure) is moving your not really going to see it like a real diamond anyway (the twinkling ?)

I modeled and used the same diamond in the close up as the one in her ear. but from far away they look nothing like each other. mainly cause the light setup wasn't created or focused for the diamond but for the figure.

I mean Hivewire3D getting her into the Poser bonus content. Dawn is Hivewire's flagship till the in testing Dawn2 happens. That is why she is black in your Poser render. The shader is neither cycles nor superfly compatible as supplied for use as bonus content. That is why I had to write the definitions in the first place and why they were released on the Hivewire forums way back when.

Actually SuperFly is pretty good at it.

Yes ellipsis is a sign of more information to come, the continued text just states something did not turn out expected, there is nothing in the text or graphic indicating what is wrong other by implication its something to do with Dawn or the ring. It wasn't until he mentioned ez-skin that the missing piece of information was provided.

Actually, my initial post WAS about the Diamond ring. I later added that I had lost the Ezskin shader. It was NOT the main topic of this thread. Nor, for that matter, has it been. I even redid the ring's shader's using some from Vince Bagna. Didn't even try to touch Dawn.

BTW, thanks for the help, BB. I need to port the ring and a watch/bracelet I did to Poser, then I'll be releasing these props into the wild. Hopefully they come out looking as good as yours.

I tried to download the ring as a Wavefront obj. ShareCG wouldn't take it. so I thought I canceled the upload. Found out today that the Picture of the ring went through anyway.

That's weird. I guess because it was a poser upload it glitched, expecting a Poser file format maybe? I know ShareCG takes straight OBJ models. Anyway, just throw together a quick pp2 and delete the last upload from your account so you don't get innundated with a bunch of comments... gives you time to make changes if you wanted at least. Just leave the obj embedded in the pp2 if that's an issue.

Or if you like send me a copy and I'll turn it into a pp2, extract the obj, place the file reference to geometries in the pp2, place in a proper Runtime structure and zip it up for you, and give it back to you to upload. Would only take about 15 minutes of my time. PM me if you need help.

That's okay. When I was first uploading it, I hadn't ported it into Poser yet anyway, which was why I was uploading it as an object file. I also hadn't scaled it down to fit Dawn. So this time, I've scaled both the ring and the Watch down to fit Dawn. It SHOULD also fit La Femme, but I haven't tried yet. I'm also going to smart prop it to Dawn's hand. Then I'll upload again to ShareCG.

Okay, got both the ring and the watch into Poser today, so far. I'll shade them later, then convert them to PP2s.

Well, there I was, making headway, but then I rendered it out and I need to returned for some small touch-ups in Blender. The watch case is much, much to thin to house anything like electronics or gears. I need to make it thicker. But hey, at least I found my EZ skin file.

Yes, the watch is looking more like a fancy bracelet in that render, but I'm sure once you add the thickness, then it'll look more like a watch.

The ring is looking good too.

Added a little thickness to the watch for Dawn. Praise is sought and appreciated. :)

It was brought t o my attention that some numerals were backwards and others were just plain wrong. Working on it.
