Poser's atmosphere effects don't work with Superfly which is why you have to use the cube.
As I first mentioned when I started writing about atmosphere effects in Poser, you can find all this in the reference manual. Look at the heading for Root Atmosphere Node on page 402 to show how to adjust the depth cue for light.
Take a peek at the post above yours. That was done with superfly. It may not work the same as with firefly, but as you can see, it does make fog.
The manual says that depth Cue (among other things) doesn't work with Superfly. If it's wrong, you should let whoever writes the manual know.
I didn't say that the depth cue worked. I said that the atmosphere worked. The lower half of the function works.
